We are holding a JAPANESE CLASS at Yuhazu Kouryukan (Iwate Town Central Community Center, in the library) from 8th October 2006. Our well-trained volunteer staff are going to teach you Japanese (beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels) and about Japanese culture.

The Japanese class began at the request of some non Japanese founder members of the association.

The class is focusing on teaching practical Japanese such as expressions for shopping, health care, etc. rather than academic Japanese grammar.

The Japanese class seems to be an opportunity to share and discuss various difficulties of living in Japan with other students not only a place to learn Japanese.
Any non Japanese are welcome to join the class free of charge even if not living in Iwate-town. You will also have a chance to join a variety of parties for a token share of the party costs.

We interviewed some of the students taking the Japanese class about their impressions of the class, and asked them what reqests they had for the Japanese staff, etc. at a Christmas party held on December 24th at Hataraku-Fujin-no-Ie Community Center in Kawaguchi district.

Ryu-san came to Japan from China as a company trainee stil lhe is a student. He said he enjoys the Japanese class and he had a good opportunity to meet a lot of kind Japanese people as well as new Chinese friends. (Mr.Ryu-Hi)

Ranko-san came to Japan 19 years ago with her mother who was a Japanese child left behind in China after World War2. She said her life in Japan was not always filled with happiness, but the Japanese class releases her stress and she hopes the class will be held for a long time.(Ms.Ranko Imamatsu)

Roshita-san, from Indonesia, got married to a Japanese man living in Iwate- town and has lived Japan for
11 years. She said she really enjoys the Japanese class as she can learn a lot of new expressions.
She is also interested in some dialect words that her family sometimes say to her.(Ms.Roshita Sawase)
