Hironori Katagiri & Kate Thomson would like to express our deepest condolences to all those adversely affected by the Tohoku and Pacific Ocean Earthquake on 11th March 2011.
All our family in Sendai and in Kesenuma are safe, even though some of them have lost their houses. Our studio and sculptures were undamaged.
We are so aware of how lucky we are compared to so many other people, and are working on ideas to support communities affected by the earthquake and tsunami as part of the long term recovery.

We returned home to Edinburgh from Iwate in north east Japan 9 days after the major quake, and will be back working in Japan several times this year.
We are so grateful to everyone who has been thinking of us, thank you.
