| Flu took us over. Kate and me had drip for 4 hours at Sakai hospital. I missed one meeting in Morioka. (HK) |

| I went to Morioka to pick up chinese Sake from chinese restaurant Saiyuki. This is rather special drink whick you never get a bit of hungover how much you drink. And taste good. Then I went to the preparatory meeting at prefecture office on the Seminar of Iwate Beautiful Scenery Promotion Committee as I am one of the panelist. (HK) |

| Sunday, 22nd January, "Dr.Sakai Book Launching Party" |

去Dr. Sakai has made a beautiful book about iwate town local folk tales with Machida's astonishing photographs, called "Folktales of Iwate". And he arranged to donate all saled of these boooks to International Association. So we organised the party( actually it is ceremony rather than party, even though we always call this kind of event party, it is not party in europian sense) . I had to do the office administration because of this event is meant to be organised by ITIA (Iwate Town International Association). I did not have time to have even just one drink until we came back home today. (HK) |

| Sunday, 15th January, "Snow Sculptures" |

Kate and Emily, Ikue-chan made snow sculptures. We have spent most of the time tiding up and cleaning, moving stuffs to new studio last weekend. Today I was busy. Tac department came to look at the new building, then had to complete the design for Iwate town International association and had meeting for chinese cooking party on 29th, also tme meeting about book launchng party on 22nd. I am ment to be a administrator for both events. It was 10 pm by the time I started to clean snow at home.(HK) |

Back to Ukishima from Tokyo and Sendai with whole family yesterday. We decided to have a day off today and went to a local bowling club in town. Then, had nice supper at Michino Eki. But when we came back home in the dark, I heard water running noise from watertank shed! Oh no! I found that main bulb of the tank has big crack and water sprinkling all over the room. I managed to replace the old parts and also put the heater lines along the pipes, which will stop freezing, I hope. (HK) |

At 9:00 am we started setting Kate's sculpture for the litle garden at the residential building in front of Hiratsuka station with 5guys. pieces are ste in places nicely until lunch time. (HK) |

We drove back into Tokyo and went to Art Front Gallery in Daikanyama to chech the Exhibition Kate has 10 pieces in the show. After we had relaxed supper at the restaurant near gallery, we drove back to Sendai in same evening, joined up with children.(HK) |

In time! We managed to finish Kate's sculpture. I had to toe the truck to get out of our place to the main road by big digger, which was stuck in snow. We also started off to Kanagawa by car soon after truck.(HK) |

Histrorical record of weather everyday in Japan this winter. So cold! As you can see, Cinnamon and Bobby are warm together. Children went down to my parents' house in Sendai to stay for a week to go to swimming classes. We are late in the station to catch our train, we lost our booking for a moment, but fortunately, we got new two seats,which a lady canselled her two tickets for the next train just soon after us.(HK) |

It looks like my flu is gone. But I still got bad cogh and I have lost my voice... Both Kate and I look awfull! We started working from today again to catch up with our schedule to complete Kate's commission piece. (HK)
