Saturday, 30th April, "Back from Plato"

Beautifull morning. No hungover. (HK)

Friday, 29th April, "Kuzumaki Cottage Party"

We are invited y Kuniko to a rental cottage in Plato in Kuzumaki to stay overnight with them. It was a family gathering of families, like fam.Saito, fam.Odashima and fam.Kudo. Lots of people and lots of children. nice barbecue with wines and beers until late night!!(HK)

Thursday, 28th April, "Ikkatai Junior High School 1s year PTA Party"

We had a little party with the parents from the 1st year PTA of Ikkatai junior high School and some teachers. It was very friendly and present evening, not like the other day discussion with our pathetic shchool master... Afterward Emily, sean and I went to next party at Ikue-chan's house, where we stayed over night. (HK)

Wednsday, 27th April, "Kohkaido Art Show Organising Committee"

This is the most beautiful cherry tree in Iwate, growing through the gigantic granite. The organising committee of Iwate Kohkaido Art Show establied today. for the summer exhibition in the classic historical building right next to Iwate prefecture office. It is going to be a 9 Iwate artists showing challenging works in the individual rooms in the building and Cafe, Beergardens, an art auction will be organised.(HK)

Went to JIA Iwate anuall meeting and party to see my architects friends. (HK)

Saturday, 23rd April, "Ukishima Open School Day"

Friday, 22nd April, "100 Years of Iwate Europian Painting Exhibition"

		New ambitious Exhibition started. I went to 2 openings at Yorozu and Ishigami today.(HK)
岩手県出身の作家を中心に日本の近代絵画の総括を行った「いわて近代洋画100年展」。この野心的なしかしおそろしくひたむきな展覧会は萬鉄五郎記念美術館、もりおか賢治啄木青春館そして石神の丘美術館の三館協同企画同時開催という、内容、形式ともに岩手にとって記念碑的な展覧会である。この種の展覧会は本来なら県立美術館が行うべき仕事だがいっこうにその気配がない、しかし資料群が散逸してしまう前にわれわれがやりました、と萬の千葉館長が挨拶の中で穏やかにおっしゃっていたのが印象的だ。作品展示分担も各館の特色と見事に一致し、それぞれ本領発揮といった印象を受ける。昨今、森美術館やあちこちの国立県立美術館などが巨大資本力と人海戦術で次々としかける大型展などに比べれば、今回の展示は仰々しさも華やかさもない、吹けば飛ぶような小さな展示品の数々でしかないかもしれない。しかし、一枚一枚の絵が寡黙ながらも淡々と証言する歴史の脈動、そしてそこに絵と並んで展示されている写真の中の作家達の真摯な表情をながめていると、昭和へと向かう明治大正期の人間たちの熱い息吹がびんびんと伝わってくる。図録に整然とまとめられた資料も日本における近代文明の受容という大きな流れの確個たる足取りをしっかりと見せてくれる。そこには客寄せのための借り物ではない、我々自身と直線で繋がる誇るべき過去と歴史がくっきりと浮かんでくる。久しぶりに素晴らしい展覧会に出会った。(HK)

Sunday, 17th April, "Iwate Town Sport Club"

	体力測定のなかでも潮音の苦手な長距離走。きょうは岩手町スポーツ少年団の結団式で沼宮内剣道少年団も参加。腹筋や腕立て伏せ、毎年、子どもたちの体力を測る。(HK)
	橋本先生がお宅からケヤキを10本ばかり持ってきてくれた。私が仕事中なのをみるとさっそく自分で場所を選んで自分で植えて行った。絵美理の中学校入学記念植樹ということで有り難くちょうだいした。(HK)

Sunday, 10th April, "Groundwork Workshop on Aoyama Train Station"

銀河鉄道盛岡青山駅周辺整備を住民が中心となってグランドワークでデザインしている。今日はその6回目のワークショップ。おもしろそうだったので、絵美理と二人でワークショップに出席。市の役人の現場説明から始まり、みんなの希望をポストイットに書いてまとめる、という所で、そのスピードの遅さに私も絵美理も飽きてしまい途中で出る。渡された図面も専門家しか読めない、一般向けとはとうていいえない代物だった。ワークショップはまだ一般的手法としてこなれていないのかも。(HK)

Saturday, 9th April, "Swans"

Attended at the openning of the "Antes and Kachina exhibition" at the Iwate prefecture museum in Morioka. Emily found over 100 swans flying over our head to the north in the bicycle shop car park in Moioka.(HK)

Tuesday, 5th April, "New School"

Emily started new junior high school in Ikkatai. She is so excited about going to meet new friends there. (HK)

Monday, 4th April, "Haircut"

I cut sean's hair for him. Spring holliday will soon be over.(HK)

Sunday, 3rd April, "Kendo"

Kendo class quolification test today. They perform infront of the Kendo master to upgrade their classes. Sean has promoted three classes up from 8th to 5th, Emily was from 6th to 4th and kate was from 4th to 3rd!(HK)
