Yesterday Tamaki san arrived from Nagoya as the 4th assistant to join the station front project. Beginning to feel the stress of looming deadlines with the 8m monument, ad 4 pocket parks to be set in a month's time.
So we have been searching the land for good stone carvers to help. Kata's teacher Yokosawa san was loath to let Tamaki go from helping him, but took pity on us!
Thought Tamaki san would be helping with the main monument, but he ended up being delegated to help Akechi - cutting the bottom of the Kamoshika's boulder base as a warm up. Now that Akechi has 2 assistants he finally started cutting stone himself - carving the rabbit. (KT)

For the sake of the Art Road project we are giving our Ukishima Sculpture Studio entrance stone for Akechi's rabbit to sit atop at the entrance to the ishigami no Oka Sculpture park |
 |
All the assistants are staying in the iwate town symposium house where they take it in turns to cook for themselves. But every Wednesday and Friday evenings we all eat together at Ukishima. This evening Kata's mother (who is visiting from Sendai to help out) made delicious 'sukiyaki' (kind of meat and veg stew) for everyone.
Koke san still refuses to stay iin the symposium house and drives to and from his own place every day, but seems to have got used to us all and stayed on after work to eat. (KT)

| Monday 13th October, Kurasawa Ballet Circle |
 |
Emily's ballet teacher (in the foreground) was performing in Morioka.
Today is a national holiday, so Emily had the day off school and I took a day off from working on my endangered species to take emily into the city for the show, and lunch in town.
It turned out to be mostly small children dancing, so Emily, who was getting bored, started playing with the digital camera as well as her binoculars. By the time her teacher came on she had worked out that she could use the binoculars as a zoom in front of the camera lense and get this close up shot.
Meanwhile everyone else was slaving away at Ukishiima in the rain! But I later discovered they had gone out for sushi lunch to make up for it. (KT)
