I got 6 jack hummers and 3air hummers from Mr.Kikuchi, the stone quarry man FREE. I needed to work on my new piece soon, but the one my own is pretty tired out. So, I went to ask him to find some somewhere. He told me that he has them in Esashi city, it takes 2hours by car in snow from here. We decided to go there now and came back home about 8 in the evening.(HK) |

Hadaka Matsuri is that naked men marching through town in traditional straw costume dancing to visit shrine. Children are happy with Wataame.(HK) |

First skiing this year with Mori's in Shimokura. It was snowing but alway fun to ski.(HK) |

"TV and Game Ticket"is now version2 released. Design changed and 15min., 30min. and1hour ticket is now available. |

In Japan we have a lot of homeworks during long hollidays for school children. Sean and Emily have already done their math and japanese. But there is something else, 'Otetsudai' (helping housework). This is why he does sooking rise these days.(HK) |

| Friday 10th January, "Exhibition Opening at Yorozu Museum" |

Went to the dentist in Morioka with Emily, then we drove to Towa town, Yorozu Museum, to the opening of the new show, which is introducing Iwate related artists. They had this themed exhibition already for 9 times. They were the only one who really cares about local contemporary artists in Iwate. The director Chiba was in his opening speach saying , 'now we have Iwate prefecture art museum and Ishigaminooka museum, we need to consider the division of projects by each museums'. They are going to stop this series of exhibition and start something new. Since we did UK98 project together, I know that they are much more than just a local memorial museum in small town. (HK) |

Folklift refused to move. We can start the engine, but can not go forward nor backward. I called toyota Folklift Service man and he just said , somewhere inside must have been frozen! Get a heater. So I picked up Jet Heater! from Sasawatari's shop and after 30 min. moving again. (HK) |

After all Japanese new year parties, replied to Nengajos, we are at last starting work on the sculptures again. Kate with her marble and I am still tidying up our studio. REAL winter bbegins from Februay, so I am very keen to prepare the indoor working space untill then. But , too many 'things' filled up our precious working spaces.
After 7 years since our studio is built, Kept everything. I couldn't throw the things away , even the thing which is not nescesary just at the moment (or probably never). A set of large speakers, a telescope, 5 microscopes, 2 big stoves and a Ping-Pong tabler from Ukishima Primary School, 4 solid wood working tables from Ikkatai primary school printing machine from Mizubori primary school, a science experiment table from Sendai Daiichi High School, 5 garden table and 12 chairs from Alps electric, Sasawatari gave us Englich wooden stove and lots of bricks, 2 working tables bought from scrap yard, 400kg heavy tool draw bought from recycle shop, 5 desks from friend architect office a, wood offcut from when the house and this studio built, 2 logs I bought when I was a student. 4pine tree roots, 100,000yen folklift,again 100,000yen grasscutter, 4bicycles from Maruko and Sasaki, 2 sets of car tires, an old boiler and a tank, a hundreds of steel wires used for kodomo land project, new bought ceramic kiln and a big drill, plaster boads and ply woods in stock, and off cource our sculptures pictures, and proper tools for carving. So we are a bit short of space. Not enogh space to work inside. We diffinitelyneed a storige!(HK) |

| Monday 6th January, "OSYOUGATSU in Sendai" |

Spent 3 days in Sendai. My grandmother cooked proper OSYOUGATSU meals. Emily and Sean's favourite is "Kinako-mochi". (HK) |

40cm snow. I had to clear the snow on the road by Yumbo from the morning. We started to drive to Sendai after lunch to spend some time with my mother and also to pick up our sculptures from the Exhibition at Bansui Gallery tommorrow. (HK) |

At the Hotel Metropolitan Morioka, we had viking style dinner party with same friends in Morioka. So much incredible Food on every table. On the way back home, it started snowing seriously from this evening! (HK) |
