April. 2001

30th.April Ann chan flies back to Scotland

Saw Ann chan off on the train to Narita airport in the morning. Then O-jiichan set too playing with the train set Kata's aunt bought for all the Katagiri children to play with when they are in Sendai!

29th.April Thanks Letter From Sendai Mayor"

Kata had to go to Sendai to be presented with "a letter of grattitude for services to the cultural life of Sendai city" by the mayor. We then went to see the new "Mediatech" building which has just opened as Sendai's flagship project for the 21st century - we actually had a tour of the building when it was still under construction and it seemed a shame that they had had to cover up the amazing structure with walls and floors! Bumped into Michael Frank of Namaiki Design (part of the incredible DELUXE - see links) who is exhibiting some pieces in one of the exhibitions on at the moment, so Ann chan, Kata and I went back in the evening to meet him for a drink when he told us about some of his incredible projects. )KT)

28th.April "OHANAMI" Ann chan, Emily, Sean and I went up to the little park on the hill next to Ukishima for a quiet O-Hanami (Cherry blossom viewing) party.

While in the middle of a game of hide and seek Mori san arrived with his 2 children and Kata, well as Mori knows us by now, I think he was a little surprised by 2 large foreign women emerging from the undergrowth covered in twigs. (KT)
